SESSION 4: NEW FAMILY
I Am With God's People
More about the New Life Family Culture
Every family has a culture. In New Life, we celebrate and practice the culture of generosity.
“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”” 2 Corinthians 9:7 NLT
We are generous with our time
Regularly attending weekend services and doing life group with our church family is something we look forward to.
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25
We are generous with our talent
We understand that our gifts and abilities can help advance the kingdom of God.
However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ.” Ephesians 4:7
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
We are generous with our treasure
We understand that money is a bad master but a great tool. We honor God with our finances in these ways:
Tithes - We give 10% of our income. It's the baseline of our giving that acknowledges that God is first and He is the source. Tithing provides space in our personal finance for God to fill.
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!” Malachi 3:10
“Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;” Proverbs 3:9
Offerings - This is our personal commitment and intentional sowing to specific ministries, projects and people in the church.
“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”” Luke 6:38
